Qualifications

Training & experience

I see my main qualification for this work as being my training and experience at Regina Coeli (the nuns of Vught) combined with my years using the language in a wide range of professional contexts.

That – together with a feel for language, a good ear, and the ability to sense and adapt to your needs – is what I bring to the work. I don’t know where these latter capabilities come from. I refuse to believe that they are in any way linked to my astrological birth sign, but I have friends who would interpret it that way.

Formal qualifications

More concretely, I also have bachelor’s and master’s degrees from London University, and I studied the teaching of English as a foreign language with The TEFL Org. You can verify my diploma here by entering my student ID 195611.

There is more information on my LinkedIn profile.

For the avoidance of doubt, I never completed my PhD. I was researching optimal currency areas under the supervision of Professor Brian Kahn as an external student of the University of Cape Town (UCT) when I left academia to launch an internet start-up in Eswatini. My doctoral thesis remains unwritten, but I am proud to have been a student at UCT.
